Kit And Ace Arrives On Bloor + Top Picks
Canada’s very own Kit and Ace celebrated the grand opening of their Bloor Street location in Toronto with a party packing the store in early October.
The Toronto fashion crowd was given a live performance by AlunaGeorge, delectable treats and the chance to inspect the brand’s latest styles. Read on to learn more and as a special bonus, find out which items stylist Talia Brown and I are falling for this season from Kit and Ace.
Kit and Ace is the brain child of Shannon and JJ Wilson, the wife and son of Lululemon founder Chip Wilson. With the spirit of being active throughout your day, motion restricting designs won’t be found at Kit and Ace. The brand offers a range of clothing for men and women made from luxurious fabrics, (often elevated technical cashmere.)
While the store has a few elements similar to Lululemon, aside from the rows of busts, the look is much more luxurious and is accented with luminous copper/rose gold metals and architectural lighting pendants.
The copper/rose gold is used strongly on the facade of the store making a bold statement at the entrance. The brand’s emblem is smartly used as the door handles.
Of course in house tailor services for adjustments are available. The tailor shop is in the heart of the store keeping good fit at the centre of Kit and Ace.
Guests of the opening party were treated to a live performance from Aluna George. The music was vibrant and a good energy flowed through the room as everyone sipped drinks and enjoyed the show.
Not ready to shop just yet? Need a little kick to get you going? Located in store is their very own Sorry Coffee Co. coffee bar.
Already a favourite destination of locals, this shop was busy during the party serving up special treats. Our advice, go grab a coffee at Sorry Coffee Co., it’s as inviting as the clothing are easy to wear.
Speaking of the clothing. Talia Brown and I have chosen our favourite pieces you must check out. Above is the Page shirt Talia was drawn to. Not just another white shirt, this garment has something extra. The mid length sleeves are casual and easy to wear, while the copper collar buttons add a final touch of interest.
With the cooler months upon us, the ever layering Talia Brown chose the Atlantic blanket as a versatile must have. This soft cashmere piece has a bold geometric print on one side, while the reverse is finished solid allowing you to switch it up.
Talia’s final must have piece for women is the Ash turtleneck in black. Kit and Ace’s take on this timeless style features a slouchy collar, has a multi-directional stitch and for extra drama has a higher hem in the front than the back.
For men, STM is loving the Walcott blazer with zip out liner. While it is available in black, the navy has STM in a flurry. This water resistant jacket takes the traditional blazer design and turns it into a true mid weight outwear garment. The sleek silhouette is finished with a varsity inspired striped collar begging to be popped.
Scarves are the accessory of the season. The Brooklyn scarf comes in a smart herringbone with a pop of colour blocked at the end and trimmed with a short fine fringe. Keep this cashmere scarf on even when inside for added warmth and style this winter.
STM’s final must have for men is the Jackson pant. This wool pant comes with a touch of spandex, cashmere and silk. This tailored pant will instantly become your favourite, most comfortable pair of pants with its pull on design featuring a hidden back elastic waist band. The front slash style pockets include an additional smartly placed hidden pocket for your smart phone.
